Our Team
In basketball, the “Sixth Man” is the term normally given to a player who doesn’t start a game, but comes in at a critical juncture to add a needed dose of scoring, defense, or playmaking. The Sixth Man or Woman is one of the most important roles on any team, supplying their particular skills exactly how and when they’re needed most. Great Sixth Men and Women in basketball history include Hall of Famers John Havlicek, Billy Cunningham and Kevin McHale, “The Microwave” Vinnie Johnson, current San Antonio Spurs star Manu Ginobili, and former Stanford standout and HIV/AIDS activist Candace Wiggins in the WNBA. Because of this tradition, at PeacePlayers International we call our grassroots activists Sixth Men and Women – integral to our team, they use their own skills in their own backyards to make a difference for PPI.
If you’d like to learn more about PeacePlayers International’s programs, please visit our website, view our videos, or like us on facebook & follow us on Twitter. While we’ll occasionally post some noteworthy stories and pictures here, you won’t learn much about our programs – this blog isn’t about that. This blog is about you, our Sixth Men and Women, and all you’re doing to contribute to PPI’s work.
See Join the Movement to learn how you can be PPI’s newest Sixth Man or Woman.
