About Us: PeacePlayers International (PPI) is an innovative nonprofit organization that uses the game of basketball to unite and educate young people and their communities. Founded in 2001 by Brendan and Sean Tuohey on the premise that children who play together can learn how to live together, PeacePlayers International currently operates programs in South Africa, Northern Ireland, Israel and the West Bank, and Cyprus that have collectively reached over 53,000 young people.
PPI has been recognized for its work by many national and international media outlets, including the Today Show, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, the BBC, the Chicago Tribune and more. Former President Bill Clinton highlighted the work of PeacePlayers International in his 2007 bestseller Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World, and two PeacePlayers International – Northern Ireland Board Members won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2007 ESPYs for their work bridging divides with PPI in Northern Ireland.
