It’s about teamwork. At PeacePlayers International, everyday we see the power of teamwork overcoming some of the most formidable religious and cultural barriers in the world today.

But we need your help.

As nearly all of the areas where PeacePlayers International works are not only divided, but also underprivileged, we don’t charge our participants fees, and our programs depend almost entirely on charitable contributions. By helping to raise funds for PeacePlayers International, you are enabling children in historically divided communities all over the world to develop into leaders for peace.

Read our blog to get inspired. Use our resources to get started. Then join our team.

Teens

Andrew Fink, a young Jewish boy in Gaitherburg, Maryland, organized a basketball tournament for his Bar Mitzvah that raised $2,000 for PeacePlayers International – Middle East. The Irish Club of La Jolla High School has organized several different events, ranging from bake sales to concerts, to help support PeacePlayers International – Northern Ireland. And that’s just the beginning.

Young people all over the country are taking action to effect real change globally, and by helping to support PeacePlayers International, you can join this worldwide community of changemakers. PeacePlayers International has partnered with Do Something, a nonprofit organization that encourages young people to make a difference, to give you access to their network of resources and young activists. College Students

@RTIMOS, a production company led by students from Brigham Young University’s Hawaii campus, organized their own concert in Honolulu that brought dozens of local musicians together to voice their support for worldwide peace, entertain their community, and raise funds for PeacePlayers International – Middle East. Jenna Weinberg, a longtime friend of PPI, has helped organize two different basketball tournaments at the University of Michigan. Pi Beta Phi Sorority at the University of Richmond did the same – twice.

These efforts and many more have helped mobilize campuses across the country to work for international peace and understanding by supporting PeacePlayers International.Helping to raise funds for PeacePlayers International can be a great teambuilding activity and effectively separate your organization – whether it’s a club, a team, or a fraternity or sorority – from the pack.

Coaches, Teachers and Club Leaders

Coming together to support PPI is a great activity for clubs, classes or teams. It can help build unity, allow your group to achieve a global impact, and rally support from your whole community. The Langley High School Girls Basketball team in Langley, Virginia, for example, hosted the “First Annual PeacePlayers International Invitational Tournament” in December 2008, recruiting three other teams from its area to participate in a fun, two-day tournament.

Adding a PPI fundraiser to your club’s, class’s or team’s  activities can give all of your organization’s members an inspirational goal, while helping build relationships with PPI’s global network of grassroots supporters. To get started, download our Group Activism Kit.

Adults

PPI needs a committed corps of volunteers to help it spread its mission of using sport for social change and achieve its programmatic goals. You can sign up to help out with a specific project, or to enlist as a “Team Captain” to lead PPI’s efforts in your own community. If you’d like to volunteer for PeacePlayers International, please contact PPI’s Communications and Development Associate Hannah Sloss to discuss current opportunities.
